The Natural glow/ Looking lit from within is all the rage. The best way to look lit from within is to have PERFECT skin... Which is something easier said that done. Luckily, we have makeup! In this tutorial, I'll be showing you how to get natural and glowing skin in 10 steps.

The common misconception about the dewy/ lit from within look is that the look requires a whole lot of highlighter and glitter. Thats true for dewy looks for the catwalk. The truth is, highlighter is beautiful, but too much of it will make you look oily and applying it in wrong areas of the face can highlight imperfections and make pores appear larger and fine lines look more visible. When under the sun/ natural light, too much highlighter will look artificial and not like actual healthy skin. In this tutorial, I'll teach you how to get a fresh and lit from within look, while keeping your face natural, soft and youthful. While making it look like your are ACTUALLY glowing vs. an obviously highlighted face.

Step 1:

The first and most important step to luminous skin is a thick and emollient moisturizer. After cleansing and toning your face, apply a generous amount of moisturizer, taking the time to really massage it in. You'll notice that your skin will immediately look more youthful, plump and healthy. Here, we will be using The Body Shop Vitamin E moisturizer.

Also, take some lip balm and moisturize your lips as well.

Step 2:

Next, Take an illuminating primer and apply it all over your face. These primers have soft shimmer in them and some light reflecting particles. Here, we are using the Nature Republic Pure Illuminating Base.

Step 3:

Use a sheer foundation to even out your skin tone. Take the time to really blend the foundation into your skin. Use your fingers and really work it in to your skin. Don't forget to blend it down to your neck. A sheer foundation is the best to use so that your illuminating base still shows through, keeping the all over glow.

Ciari's Quick Tip:

Have some discoloration or uneven skin? After applying your sheer foundation, take some heavier coverage foundation and go over those areas that need coverage. Again, use your fingers to blend it into the foundation that is already there.

Step 4:

Fill in your brows naturally. Using a brow pencil, follow the growth of your natural eyebrows and start filling them in. Define and finish your eyebrows with some brow powder. Here, we used Shu Uemura Hard Brow Pencil in Walnut and Mac eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown.

Check out my Eyebrow tutorial for a more in-depth tutorial on eyebrows.

Step 5:

Conceal your dark circles with an under eye concealer. I suggest using a product with some skincare benefits. These products nourish your skin while brightening the area. It is also easier to apply than regular concealers. Here, we are using Maybelline Age Rewind.

Step 6:

Cream eyeshadow. I love cream shadows for natural makeup looks. They melt into your skin naturally and most cream shadows now are crease proof and come in a wide range of shades. Take 2 shades of cream shadows. One that is a natural brown shade for all over the eyelid, and a light one that can highlight your inner corners and the middle of your lid. Here we are using Maybelline color tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and Too Cool.

Step 7:

Cream highlighters blend in to your skin easier and they usually look more natural than their powder counter parts. Here, we used Sleek Cosmeticts Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals. This palette comes with 3 cream and 1 powder highlighter.

Apply the highlighter with your fingers to the high points of your face. Cheekbones, nose, cupids bow and brow bone.

Step 8:

Curl lashes and apply mascara. We used the Shu Uemura eyelash curler and the Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara

Step 9:

Apply cream blush using a stippling brush to the apples of your cheek and some natural rosy lipstick. When getting blush from the pot, make sure to dab the brush at the back of your hand after, removing some of the product before brushing on your cheek. This will allow your to build your blush slowly and more naturally.

Here we are using NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Hot Pink and a Suesh Stippling brush.

Step 10:

Finish the look by dusting an illuminating powder all over your face. Here, we are using Guerlain Meteorites and a Real Techniques Blush Brush.

There you go! A step-by-step guide on how to look naturally lit from within.
