Red Lips on fair skin look amazing! But, it can easily look too much on someone with very light skin. Reds can wash you out and "erase" the rest of your face, making you look like a pair of floating lips.

In this second part of my red lip series, I'll be showing you shades that I think can be worn easily and are flattering on most fair skins. I'll also be sharing tips to make sure that with whatever red lipstick you choose, you will be able to balance it out with the rest of your face.

In this tutorial, my friend Jess Milner kindly agreed to be my fair skinned model. Thanks Jess!

As you'll see in the photos below, Jessica's makeup is kept to a minimum. But, I made sure to add warmth to her face by softly contouring, lining and applying mascara on her upper lash line to keep her eyes defined, filled in her brows for structure and of course blush. A natural-toned blush is the main thing that will keep you from looking washed out in red lipsticks.

1. Mac Russian Red

This is my lipstick of choice for any skin tone. It's a nice true, blue based red that is not clownish at all. The formula is great! It's comfortable to wear and lasts pretty much the whole night if applied properly.

2. Mac Lady Danger

If you read my last red lip post, you'll notice that this shade was also mentioned there. That's because this shade really looks amazing on everyone. It makes faces look brighter and fresher. I highly recommend this shade!

This shade of red has a slight orange undertone that I find to look great from morning till night.

3. Ofra Santa Ana

This is one of Jess' personal lipsticks. I like the formula of OFRA lipsticks. Its a matte liquid/creamy formula that pretty much lasts all day. This shade is in-between a brick red and a deep rose/pink color.

Ciari's Quick Tip:

Finding it difficult to apply red lipsticks perfectly? Try using a pointed lip brush instead of the usual flat ones. This will give your more precision with application. Also, if you mess up a little, just use your concealer or foundation brush with a bit of foundation to clean up the edges.

4. La Girl Matte Obsess

This is a matte red lipstick with a peachy/ orange undertone. It is a fresh-looking red that is perfect for the day.

The formula on La Girl Matte liquid lipsticks are highly pigmented and very affordable. They can dry a tiny bit darker than what it looks like when first applied, but thats pretty common in liquid lipsticks. The downside of this lipstick is that it makes your lips sticky. Sticky enough that if you press your lips together you can feel them sticking together a little. BUT, for the price, it's definitely not a deal breaker.

There you go! A few tips and suggestion for people with fair skin. Like I said, these are just suggestions that I know will work well on most people with fair skin. Don't be afraid to buy, try and experiment with any shade that catches your eye! Have fun with makeup! :D
